Adani news

12 September 2018 - Adani believed to have started drilling against their mining conditions!

The latest evidence indicates that Adani has been drilling for bores against the conditions set by the Queensland Government.  This is not the first time that Adani has been in breach of conditions, and it certainly won’t be the last!

The environment and the Great Barrier Reef needs you to contact your State Member of Parliament to send the message to prosecute Adani.

The drilling of these 6 bores put aquifers of the Great Artesian Basin at risk.  Bores are used in mining to depressurise the bed of coal in the ground and to lower the water table - activity that may cause the Doongmabulla Springs Complex to dry up permanently.  The Great Barrier Reef’s future needs our government to promote jobs that have a long-term prospect, not coal jobs.    People want a viable future, one that doesn’t continue to put our climate at risk.  The reef needs a transition away from the use of fossil fuels but so do many the ecosystems, species and indeed, our own species.  We can do this!

Send your message to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, contact details can be found here.

Give your State Member of Parliament a ring too!  State electorates in the surrounding Townsville area:

The Adani coal mine and the 8 further projects proposed for the Galilee Basin a bad idea.  Here’s why:

Coal kills.  Coal is one of the main causes of global warming but it also contributes to significant air pollution that compromises the health of communities.  The Queensland Government can make a decision to move away from this dangerous dirty fuel.
Can't Trust Adani. From allegations of offshore tax dodging to inflated jobs claims and corruption, Adani has a history of irresponsible behaviour to the deltriment of the environment.
Wrecks Our Climate. Right when we need to cut pollution, burning more coal will lead to more extreme weather and further bleaching of the Reef.
Robs Our Water. Adani will draw billions of litres of water from the Great Artesian and other precious basins, threatening farmers and groundwater.
Trashes Indigenous Rights. Adani’s mine, rail and port project will destroy the ancestral lands, waters and cultures of Indigenous peoples in the region. And Adani does not have the consent of the local Wangan and Jagalingou people.
